Cuba Under Embargo - 50 Years of Sanctions

I have just published the 2nd edition of my book about Cuba this week.
This book focuses on the US embargo and its macro-economic impact. It uses some innovative methods to reveal to the extent of overall harm done by the embargo. The results may surprise you and change your thinking about economic sanctions.

Why not just look at historical data? There is no economic record that covers the pre-revolution period, so the effect of the embargo is simply missing.
The Cuban government has changed its system of national accounts several times, making a consistent analysis impossible. The government publishes an account of embargo losses but doesn't mention offsetting factors (there are many).

Instead of settling for pro and con political commentary, the book takes a new approach.
It uses a regional analysis to assess Cuba's economy against comparable peers such as Jamaica and Dominican Republic. It compares the growth rates as well as the Industrial Structure of these islands, focusing on changes in the data at the time of key historic events.
The book also includes a review of the UN's Human Development Index
which compares lifespan, literacy and income among nations.

The Cuban economy is now revealed in a way that has not been seen yet. Read the book and get the facts.
